You can picture a beggar by the side of a dirt road leading up from Jericho towards Jerusalem. There is a fairly large group of people walking by and so you ask who is going by. Someone tells you to be quiet and then someone else says that Jesus is going by. Wait, that is the prophet who heals people; “Jesus, Son of David, have mercy on me.” You yell out again and again someone tells you to be quiet. And then, miracles or all miracles, Jesus orders someone else to bring you to him! Jesus is the one who told the blind man to be brought to him. The man could not see to get to him by himself.

How many people are calling, yelling for help but cannot see Jesus?

When you get near to Jesus, he ask you “What do you want me to do for you?” What do I want Jesus to do for me? You answer, “Lord, I want to see.” I too want to see, I want to see Jesus!

Jesus then says to you, “Receive your sight, your faith has healed you.” Now you see, now you praise God and now you follow Jesus. Lord, help me see, help me praise the Father and help me follow you!

This man threw off his cloak in winter, when he could not see to find it. He threw caution to the wind because Jesus was near.
