Malcus, the servant of the High Priest, goes with the angry priests and Judas when Judas betrays Jesus in the Garden of Gethsemane. He get his ear cut off for his trouble and then is healed by the one being betrayed. What conflicting emotions he must have had.

Jesus, who is completely focused on the path to the cross, the cup his Father has given him to drink, heals the man. No one asks him to heal Malchus. No one thanks him for healing Malchus. Jesus just heals Malchus. Sometimes I think Jesus does this a lot, in my life and in the lives around me. He just heals. Thank you, Lord, for your loving kindness and thank you that you are heaven bound and not earth bound like I seem to be so often.
